Michael Hoffman joins the WPTV NewsChannel 5 team as a multimedia journalist after spending two years reporting for KY3 News in Springfield, Missouri.
In his time in the Ozarks, Michael covered stories ranging from crime and politics to cattle and poultry farming, festivals and charity events.
Although Michael was born in raised in the suburbs of New York, he is no stranger to South Florida. A second-generation Cuban-American, Michael has spent countless holidays and summer vacations in the area with his extended family, calling it his second home.
He studied communications at Tulane University in New Orleans for his bachelor’s degree and went on to obtain a master's degree in journalism from Columbia University in New York City.
Michael also spent time working for NBC Sports at the sports desk for the Tokyo Olympics. He also worked as a volunteer Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) in the suburbs of New York City for four years.
Moving to South Florida is a lifelong dream for Michael, and he's excited to continue his career in the Sunshine State.
In his spare time, you can find him cooking Cuban food like his grandmother and mother taught him, spending time in the outdoors or hanging out with his dog, Bruno and listening to music.
