Victor Jorges 2023

Victor Jorges

WPTV

Reporter

Victor Jorges joined the WPTV news team in March 2023. He came from WTVJ, the NBC affiliate in Miami and Fort Lauderdale. There, he covered community stories in both English and Spanish, aside from crime and some cultural/health topics.

Before that, he was in Lafayette, Louisiana, where he covered the approach and aftermath of Hurricane Ida in 2021 and the 2021 Louisiana Legislative session. He has also worked at WSVN in Miami as a writer and interned at Discovery Channel and CNN.

Victor graduated from Florida International University, where he was the news director for the student-run newspaper. During his time there, he covered pivotal topics like the red tide in South Florida waters, the South Beach Wine & Food Festival and the story of a survivor of the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School shooting.

He was working at WSVN when the world was hit by the coronavirus pandemic. He started a digital series called "South Florida Today" in which he would share the top three stories of the day, alongside a look at the rapidly rising cases with context.

When not working on a story, you can find Victor attempting to cook, trying different restaurants and bars, or listening to his growing collection of vinyl records.
