Cassandra Garcia

WPTV

Reporter

Cassandra Garcia joined WPTV as a multimedia journalist in August 2023 and is focused on telling stories that impact the Treasure Coast. She is thrilled to be back in South Florida working close to home.

Cassandra was born and raised in Miami. She took a liking to broadcast journalism when she joined the morning announcements in elementary school. She continued to follow her love for reporting through grade school and college at the University of Miami.

Cassandra bleeds orange and green. At the U, she spent her weekends on the sidelines as a University of Miami cheerleader and her weekdays at the desk reporting for UMTV. She won several awards for her work with UMTV, including the College Television Award.

After college, she moved to McAllen, Texas, for two years to work as a reporter at KRGV. While there, she covered everything from border issues and extreme weather to Texas high school football.

Cassandra is a proud bilingual Cuban-American. She loves to dance salsa and country line dance. In her free time, you'll find her at a fitness class, watching a 'Canes game, or spending time with friends and family.

Now, she is excited to connect with the community on the Treasure Coast. She hopes her stories can give people a voice and an opportunity to feel heard.

Cassandra would love to hear from you! If you have story ideas, comments or questions you would like answered, you can email her at Cassandra.Garcia@wptv.com.
