Gov. DeSantis to visit Florida Panhandle on Thursday

MARIANNA, Fla. — Gov. Ron DeSantis is scheduled to make a 'major policy announcement' in the Florida Panhandle on Thursday, according to his office.

A spokesperson won't say what the announcement is about, but he's set to be at the Jackson County Road Department in Marianna at 3 p.m.

He'll be joined by Florida Division of Emergency Management Director Jared Moskowitz.

Since he was sworn in on Jan. 8, Gov. DeSantis has made the following announcements:

• Jan. 23: Called for "swift and exacting justice" for the suspected gunman in a SunTrust Bank shooting in Sebring

• Jan 9: Appointed Judge Barbara Lagoa of Miami to the Florida Supreme Court

• Jan 10: Called for the South Florida Water Management District board to resign during a visit to Stuart

• Jan. 11: Suspended Broward County Sheriff Scott Israel

• Jan. 14: Appointed Judge Robert Luck to the Florida Supreme Court

• Jan. 15: Targeted Airbnb’s policies in the West Bank of Israel

• Jan. 17: Sought to end a ban on smokable medical marijuana in Florida

• Jan. 18: Suspended Palm Beach County Supervisor of Elections Susan Bucher

• Jan. 18: Rescinded 46 last-minute appointments by former Gov. Rick Scott

• Jan. 22: Appointed Carlos Muñiz to the Florida Supreme Court
