There an update to a mentally challenged man facing criminal charges for attacking a Palm Beach County sheriff's deputy before the deputy shot him

Aldo Alvarez can now leave his home without being accompanied by his parents.

Prosecutors agreed to the measure Friday, nearly one year after they agreed to take him off house arrest.

In 2013, Alvarez was shot six times by off-duty deputy Joshua McGehee at McGehee's home.

The deputy claimed Alvarez cornered him in his garage, leaving him no choice but to shoot.

Alvarez's attorneys say evidence disputes the deputy's account.
