WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. — Florida voters now have a new online resource to help them understand Amendment 3 before heading to the polls this November.
Florida Tax Watch launched a Property Tax Resource Center that breaks down the proposed property tax measure by county and municipality across the state.

If approved, Amendment 3 would expand the homestead exemption to $250,000 by 2028. That could cut local property taxes by nearly $46 billion over five years. The amendment needs 60% support to pass.
The Florida Tax Watch website allows users to navigate to a state map, highlight any county, and see the projected five-year impact of Amendment 3, along with totals for each fiscal year. The website also allows users to click through to see the impact on individual municipalities within each county.
Each county is also ranked in different categories. St. Lucie County ranks first in the state for millage and 16th in per capita property tax levies. The online tool includes data for counties across Florida, including Palm Beach, St. Lucie, Martin, Indian River and Okeechobee.
Palm Beach County is also launching its own online tool in September, where homeowners can see the direct impact the amendment would have on their individual property taxes.
Palm Beach County Property Appraiser Dorothy Jacks said the tool is designed to give taxpayers a clear, personal picture of what a yes vote would mean for them.
"Well, I even think about myself. I know what I pay in property taxes every year. It would be good to know exactly what voting yes on this amendment would save me versus what I will continue to pay, and that's what I hope to convey to the taxpayers: this is the number that you would continue to pay in addition to what you would save on your homestead exemption increase," Jacks said.
Some other Florida counties have similar online tools available as well.
