UPDATE: Lex Eugene, who was found guilty of vehicular homicide in January after hitting and killing a 5-year-old boy, was sentenced to 30 years in prison.

A Palm Beach County man, accused of hitting and killing a 5-year-old boy while speeding away from police nearly three years ago, has been found guilty on four of five charges against him.
Jurors convicted 23-year-old Lex Eugene of vehicular homicide, attempting to flee or elude involving death, driving without a license involving death, and resisting arrest without violence.
He was found not guilty of leaving the scene of a crash involving death.
Boynton Beach police said Eugene was fleeing from officers in a white Buick Enclave on Feb. 13, 2016 when he lost control, drove onto a sidewalk, and struck Jayden Readon, who was walking with his family.
The wreck happened around 2 p.m. near the intersection of Miner and Summit Roads.

Police said Eugene took off on foot, but was eventually captured. Readon was taken to Delray Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
Eugene did not have a driver's license at the time of the crash, according to police.
Jury deliberations started around 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, and jurors asked to re-listen to recorded testimony from Readon's great grandmother.
