UPDATE: According to the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office, the driver of a white SUV that struck and killed a 5-year-old Saturday afternoon has been identified as 20-year-old Lex Lugard Eugene.
Officials say Eugene was fleeing from Boynton Beach police, traveling westbound on Miner Road. He lost control of the SUV when attempting to make a right turn onto northbound Summit Road. The vehicle went onto the sidewalk striking 5-year-old Jayden Readon.
Eugene continued fleeing police until the vehicle came to a stop and he tried to flee on foot.
He was arrested by Boynton Beach police on charges of vehicle homicide, felony murder, driving without a driver's license causing death and leaving the scene of a fatal crash.

A 5-year-old child is dead after being struck by an SUV in Boynton Beach Saturday afternoon, according to the Boynton Beach Police Department.
The accident happened around 2:30 p.m. at the intersection of Miner Road and West Federal Highway.
According to witnesses, the child was struck during a high-speed police chase on Minor Road.
The child was transported to Delray Medical Center and died from injuries.
The Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office said later Saturday that the suspect is in custody.
