The state of Mississippi says a massive alligator captured this month has broken a record.
According to the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks, a gator measuring 14 feet 3/4 inch was taken by a hunting party near Natchez, Miss.
The alligator was certified Monday as the “longest male alligator taken by a permitted hunter in Mississippi.”
The state said the length broke the previous record by a half inch.
The alligator weighed 766.5 pounds with a belly girth of 69 inches and a tail girth of 43 inches.
