WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. — A tropical wave has moved off the west coast of Africa on Sunday.
The National Hurricane Center is now giving the wave a 40% chance for tropical development in the next seven days.
TRACKING THE TROPICS: Hurricane Center | Hurricane Guide
It will track westward in the eastern tropical Atlantic and stay south of the Cabo Verde Islands. It is forecast to have gradual development next week. The system does not look to be a threat to Florida, but we will still monitor it in the upcoming days.
If it forms into a tropical storm, the next name on the list is Gabrielle.
The rest of the tropics remains quiet for now as we approach peak hurricane season on Sept. 10.
