WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. — Today's weather will be quite different from typical August conditions – you'll see much less rain and fewer thunderstorms than usual. A layer of Saharan dust drifting through our area will create some haze in the sky while also helping to keep those afternoon storms at bay.
This morning brings a pleasant mix of sunshine and clouds, but temperatures will climb quickly. Most areas should stay dry this afternoon, though you might catch an isolated shower or thunderstorm – particularly if you're inland or near Lake Okeechobee. If you're along the coast, your chances of staying completely dry are even better.
Temperatures will soar into the lower to mid-90s, but the high humidity will make it feel much hotter. Since we're expecting fewer storms than usual, there won't be as much afternoon cooling relief from the heat.
The Saharan dust will give our skies a slightly hazy appearance throughout the day, but it's actually working in our favor by keeping rain chances low.
