Breezy Wednesday with quick-moving showers

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. — Showers were moving in from off the ocean and more of the same through Tuesday evening Overnight low 80s.

Thursday: High of 90 and low of 80.

Friday: High of 91 and low of 80..

Very little change in the weather pattern through the weekend. Highs in the low 90s with some showers and a couple of storms and pushing in from off the ocean tracking from northeast to southwest.

Next week, moisture increases and stormy weather returns. Scattered afternoon-evening showers and storms with highs in the low-mid 90s.

Meanwhile, in the tropics, Tropical Storm Franklin made landfall on the Dominican Republic on Wednesday morning and will move over open water tomorrow where it's expected to strengthen into a Category 2 storm by early next week. 

Models keep this system away from Florida.

In the 11 p.m. update from the National Hurricane Center, Franklin was about 80 miles south-southeast of Grand Turk Island with sustained winds of 45 mph. Franklin was moving north-northeast at 15 mph.

On the forecast track, the center of Franklin will continue to move farther away from Dominican Republic  and strengthen during the next several days. Franklin could be near hurricane strength over the southwestern Atlantic by Saturday.

Three other systems in the Atlantic Ocean:

Invest 92 is producing disorganized showers and thunderstorms in an area of low pressure several hundred miles west of the Cabo Verde Islands. It has the potential to become a tropical depression by the weekend. Formation chance in seven days is 40%.

The remnants of Tropical Storm Emily are an area of low pressure more than 1,000 miles northeast of the Leeward Islands. The system is likely to regenerate into a tropical storm by Friday. Formation chance through seven days is 70%.

An area of low pressure could form in a couple of days over the northwestern Caribbean Sea. Some slow development of this system is possible over the weekend and early next week. Formation chance through seven days is 40%.
