KISSIMMEE, Fla. — With the Interstate 4 corridor always a political battleground, Vice President Mike Pence held Republican rallies in Hillsborough and Osceola Counties on Thursday as part of President Donald Trump’s re-election campaign.

The Vice President appeared at a "Latinos For Trump" event at 6 p.m. at the Nación de Fe church on W. Irlo Bronson Memorial Highway in Kissimmee.

Winning Florida will be crucial for the re-election hopes of Trump, who campaigned on Jan. 3 at a mega church in Miami-Dade County.

"Trump, he likes the military, he likes family, church so it's all those things that are important to me so if we can spread some of that around the community," said Ernie Pantaso before the event began.

Bertica Cabrera-Morris is one of 20 board members for the Latinos for Trump campaign movement. She says Hispanics for Trump feel he’s delivered on the issues they care about. "Promises made, promises kept you know unemployment for Hispanics is at an all-time low."

But not every group of Latinos feels the same. In a Latinos Against Trump event held Wednesday - Kissimmee Mayor Jose Alvarez said Pence’s rally aims to confuse Hispanic voters. "This administration continues a direct assault on Puerto Rico by not releasing the funds that were approved by Congress."

Cabrebra-Morris says the president has shown support for the island. "This president is the first president that goes to Puerto Rico in the past 30 years when a disaster occurs, no Clinton, no Bush, nobody did; this guy cares and they’re trying to make something out of his visit."

Earlier this afternoon Vice President Pence was at the Venetian Events Center in Hillsborough County to speak at a "Keep America Great" event.

The Vice President addressed topics like national security, religious freedom and showing support for troops in the rally.

The economy was also a big talker and Vice President Pence really emphasized the creation of jobs. He said nationwide, the Trump Administration helped create 7 million jobs and 600,000 in Florida.

Vice President Pence said those numbers are still growing. He added because of the trade deal with China, he promised tens of thousands of more jobs will be created.
