After his win Tuesday night in the Democratic Senate primary, U.S. Rep. Patrick Murphy visited WPTV to talk about the win and upcoming race against incumbent Sen. Marco Rubio.
Murphy is criticizing Rubio for not guaranteeing he would serve a full six years if he wins re-election. Rubio made the statement in an interview with CNN last week.
“It’s shocking to me that Sen. Rubio wouldn’t commit to a six-year term to be in the Senate, and I guess it’s really not a surprise. He’s made it clear that his ambitions are to run for president again,” said Murphy.
When he was asked Wednesday morning about the algae crisis on the Treasure Coast and what he would do as senator, Murphy said he will continue to make the investment to send the water south.
Rubio easily won the Republican nomination to retain his seat in Tuesday's primary.
