APALACHICOLA, Fla.-- Small businesses in the waterfront areas of Apalachicola are saving what they can from the threat of flooding.

At one firm, workers loaded their seafood into trucks to preserve their bottom line.

"We're almost finished, but there's always something left to do, there's always something to take care of when you're on the water and a storm's coming," said one worker.

There's been a scramble to complete preparations before Michael hits.

"Only a couple days to get ready for something that we haven't been used to, since, really 2005," he added.

There was a different feeling farther inland. We saw few homes or businesses boarded up.

"Feels like a regular day. Just a big storm coming through," said one person.

Some students at Florida State are looking forward to a break. They were packing up and leaving Tuesday afternoon.

FSU and nearby FAMU are both closed.

Optimism is high the students will be returning to minimal damage.
