CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. — An Atlas V rocket launched Thursday afternoon at Cape Canaveral, sending a high-frequency satellite into space.

The mission is Lockheed Martin’s first launch with the newly-formed U.S. Space Force.

The high-frequency satellite will help improve military on ground, sea and air, according to the Kennedy Space Center website.

Due to the coronavirus, the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex is temporarily closed, and there will be no launch viewing opportunities at the center.
