BROWARD COUNTY, Fla. A Pembroke Pines police officer, dragged by a suspect's car, has been released from the hospital.

19-year veteran Jon Cusack was smiling as he was wheeled out of Memorial Regional Hospital in Hollywood Wednesday.

Although officer Cusack was covered in bandages he was no doubt relieved to be in good shape.

On Tuesday Cusack responded to a call for possible overdose victims and somehow that led to a high-speed car chase.

But the chase started with officer Cusack clinging to the side of the suspect's vehicleand as the car reached speeds above 60-miles-an-hour the officer let go and suffered "significant road rash injuries" to his arms and legs.

Thomas Cabrera, the driver of the vehicle, is now facing several charges including attempted murder.
