A missing Florida State University student was found alive on Sunday after he was missing for four days.

The Leon County Sheriff‟s Office, along with numerous community partners, said they located 19-year-old Justin Dean Shields.

The sheriff's office said they found Shields' vehicle in Leon County on Friday and had been looking in the area for him.

More than 80 Florida State University students, staff and dozens of local residents helped law enforcement with the search.

Around 4 p.m. Sunday, the sheriff's office said a team was following a scent trail with dogs in a wooded area about a mile northwest of where Shields' vehicle was located.

As the dogs tracked a scent into a wooded area, Shields was found dehydrated with scratches but in otherwise good health. He was transported to a local hospital for evaluation.

“The community showed once again how we come together when one of our citizens needs help. We are proud to be "All In" with Leon County and happy this has come to the best possible conclusion for Justin and his family,” said Sheriff Walt McNeil.

The sheriff's office uploaded video to their Facebook page that showed Shields' family ecstatic after learning that their loved one had been found safe.
