A Chinese national is pleading not guilty after he was caught allegedly taking pictures of a naval base in Key West.
His defense attorney says the 27-year-old suspect entered the plea during his arraignment at a federal court Monday.
Liao Lyuyou was arrested on Dec. 26, 2019.
He allegedly entered Naval Air Station Key West and took pictures of the installation despite being warned not to do so.
He's now facing charges of photographing and sketching defense installations and entering a military property.
The charges are misdemeanors, but the first charge alone carries up to a year in prison.
The suspect said he was just taking pictures of the sunrise. But according to court documents, his photos proved otherwise.
