A St. Lucie County School teacher has resigned hours before the school district was considering firing him for inappropriate conduct with a student.
29-year-old David Ferguson was an English teacher at Fort Pierce Central High School.
Police began their investigation earlier this month.
They said he had a sexual relationship with one of his students, and they planned to date publicly after her graduation.
They said no criminal charges are being filed because she was 18 at the time.
