FORT PIERCE, Fla. — Detectives with the St. Lucie County Sheriff's Office are investigating the death of a woman found in Fort Pierce.

The body of an unidentified Black woman was found in the 2000 block of Totten Road on Tuesday, January 11, 2022.

"This investigation is ongoing, and detectives continue to work tirelessly to identify the victim and the events that led to her death," said Chief Deputy Brian Hester. "We feel that this was an isolated incident and that the public is in no immediate danger."

Due to the state of decomposition of the body, the Sheriff's Office needs help from the public to identify the woman.
