ST. LUCIE COUNTY, Fla. (WPTV) — Members of the St. Lucie County Sheriff's Office are actively staged and patrolling roads due to potential flooding along the coast in the county.
Since Monday, they have been keeping people who don't live along North Beach off of it because it's a low lying area and high tides are a risk.
As for flooding, deputies have said that they have not seen reports of flooding in the county yet. Places like Avalon State Park have had flooding in the past, and they are keeping a close eye on it.
Representative Toby Overdorf said over 4,200 National Guard members have been mobilized. Also, county officials estimate that 700 people have sought shelter in one of the five evacuation shelters in St. Lucie County.
