DELRAY BEACH, FLa. — The power of social media can do a lot. Delray Beach Police wants to tap into that power to help track down criminal suspects.
Delray Police have started posting “Do You Know Me” posts on Facebook. The posts are pictures from surveillance cameras at local businesses. Police say the people in the pictures were caught on video committing a crime.
“The power of social media is great, it is not something law enforcement can ignore so we are really thankful when they interact with us,” said Delray Beach Public Information Officer Dani Moschella.
Local businesses who invest in security systems say the Facebook posts are a great idea.
“I have seen them it is a really innovative approach to finding people where we don’t have a name but a face,” said Albert Richwagen, owner of Richwagen Delray Bike and Sport.
Police ask if anyone recognizes the people in the photos to please contact them at (561) 243-7813.
