An article in Forbes just featured the popularity of luxury development in Delray Beach.

The article discusses the city having nearly 40 projects that are under review, approved, or under construction and the draw for luxury developers to build multi-million dollar condos.

Delray Beach is known as the “Village by the Sea” and the people who live here want to protect it.

“I think what is at stake here is protecting our Village by the Sea,” said Claudia Willis.

Willis said the city has done a good job protecting development in the downtown area, but outside of Atlantic Avenue is where developers can build multi-story buildings.

“It is simple, if a developer wants to come in and wants to build over five flights, I tell them Boca is a great place,” said commissioner Adam Frankel.

Willis said she hopes the city looks to Delray’s future and the city isn’t compromised by luxury development.

“We need to build smart and we need to build human scale,” said Willis.
