The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office rescued a boater who went overboard early Wednesday morning about 5 miles east of the Boynton Beach Inlet.
The department’s marine and aviation unit were dispatched to the area around 2 a.m. after a call of a "man overboard."
When law enforcement arrived, deputies learned a man either jumped or fell from the vessel.
A PBSO helicopter arrived and found the victim swimming 1.5 miles from where the boat was located.
The helicopter pilot was able to direct deputies to that location where the man was pulled safely from the water.
