Dogs in Boynton Beach got a real treat Saturday afternoon. city commissioners voted back in August to allow dogs to visit Oceanfront Park for one day as a trial run to see if this could become a full-time dog beach.
Dozens of dogs and their owners stopped by the park to play fetch in the sand and splash in the water.
“My dog going into the ocean, which she’s never done before, and for her to have the freedom to be able to play with other dogs. I love the beach, I’m a beach bum myself so this is an amazing day and I just hope we are able to continue this," said resident Barbara Ratner.
It's unclear when city commissioners will make a decision on transitioning to a full time dog beach.
