It's National Small Business Week, an annual event recognized by the U.S. Small Business Administration. The week is meant to celebrate the impact these businesses have on the local economy.
Florida is home to 2.2 million small businesses with thousands of these owners calling South Florida home.
Town Center at Boca Raton is home to 32 locally-owned shops. A spokesperson for the shopping center said they are big advocates of locally owned stores and encourage people who dream of owning their own store to take that leap.
The leasing office offers different options to help make your dream a reality.
"Specialty Leasing actually allows you to test your concept or your product in the mall environment without a long-term commitment. Whether that be in a pop-up environment, on a cart, kiosk or in-line, it allows you to take advantage of our shoppers, traffic and in peak season," said Specialty Leasing representative Cylvia Castro.
The U.S. Small Business Administration said 3.3 million people in Florida work for a small business.
