A homicide investigation in unincorporated Boca Raton continues. Palm Beach County Sheriff’s deputies responded after reports of a body of a deceased person with a gunshot wound in the Boca Landings neighborhood at 8:25 p.m. on Friday.

Neighbors tell WPTV it’s a quiet neighborhood where most people know each other in fact people we spoke say they heard gunshots and thought they were fireworks. It wasn’t until a lot of law enforcement arrived that they learned otherwise.

PBSO says a Hispanic man was lying on the ground in the 9600 block of Tavernier Dr. with an apparent gunshot wound.

The sheriff’s office says no suspect or motive is known at the time and the Violent Crimes Division is still investigating.

That doesn’t sit well with people who live or work in the area who say most have lived here for two decades and the neighborhood is not known for transients or crime.

”That concerns me of course, of course anybody would be concerned,” said Chowdhury Raihan, who serves customers in Boca Landings. “We do business in this area and anybody would be concerned. Are you in a safe neighborhood anymore? Is the neighborhood changing?”

Anyone with any information about this homicide investigation is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-458-TIPS.
