Boca students stranded on Turnpike for hours

Parents in Boca Raton want answers after they say a school trip left their kids stuck on the Florida Turnpike for more than four hours Friday.

The students were being bussed to Universal Studios in Orlando for their senior trip. But plans changed when one of three busses broke down.

All three busses parked along the Turnpike near the Southern Boulevard exit, but after a couple of hours when help didn't come the two other busses took off, leaving the third bus stuck on the Turnpike for more than four hours.

Parents told WPTV they're upset because they had no way of getting to their kids while they were stuck on the Turnpike."

"Three to four hours went by and I was getting increasingly alarmed, increasingly worried and increasingly angry and nothing had been done by the charter bus company," Natalie O'Neill said.

The students have been given a voucher from Universal Studios to make up the trip. WPTV reached out to the Palm Beach County School District about this incident and have not heard back.
