Victim identified after deadly I-95 southbound shooting in Boca Raton

A fatal shooting on Interstate 95 southbound in Boca Raton Wednesday morning caused major backups from Linton Boulevard into Boynton Beach.   

All lanes southbound were closed for about three hours. Three lanes re-opened around 8:40 a.m. All lanes were back open by 9:30 a.m.

Police said around 2:43 a.m. a Florida Highway Patrol officer investigated a crash near Yamato Road. 

The trooper arrived at the scene and found a victim had been shot prior to the wreck.

The person was transported to Delray Medical Center where he died.

Police are not sure at this point how or where the victim was shot.

At 7:25 a.m., Chopper 5 spotted multiple officers walking along I-95 looking for evidence with crime tape up around a black car.

Boca Raton police identified the victim as Edvin Milkevic, 29, of Boca Raton. 

What led up to the shooting is still unclear. No arrests have been made.
