BOCA RATON, Fla. — The Boca Raton Children’s Museum is temporarily closed and will reopen under new management by the city in a few months.
The museum is located at 498 Crawford Blvd.
The nonprofit organization Florence Filler, who had been running the museum for the last five years, said they could no longer afford to keep the museum open.
"It is a real opportunity for the city to make this a greater experience for all of our residents," said Boca Raton Mayor Scott Singer. "(We will look at) what upgrades are needed -- both to the physical structures and the exhibits."
Boca Raton mom blogger Michelle Olson-Rogers says she is sure the city will make the right changes to the museum, while also keeping the things that make it unique.
"Now is the time to really evaluate what the purpose is of the children's museum to make sure that it's fulfilling its mission and that it is really targeting our local families," said Olson-Rogers.
The city, who owns the property, will look at any needed updates to the museum and expects to reopen in the spring.
