BOCA RATON, Fla. — Boca Raton police are investigating a shooting that happened overnight Saturday.

Police said there was a disturbance in the parking lot at 20 N. Federal Highway between two people, and shots were fired.

The injured were taken to Delray Medical Center. Police have not released any other details at this time, but people who frequent downtown want answers.

On Saturday mornings, approximately 300 people participate in 'Yoga In The Park' at Sanborn Square off N. Federal Highway.

"Physically healthier and mentally healthier," said Leslie Glickman, a Boca Raton resident.

Just hours before Glickman’s session and just feet away, gunfire rang out.

"It’s hard to believe that something so beautiful and peace that just happened here, the yoga with hundreds of people, could be right in the same vicinity as something like that happened," said Glickman.

Ricardo Reyes, another Boca Raton resident, calls the shooting worrisome.

"If I had been walking back to my car, for example, at the moment, something bad could have happened," said Reyes.

Reyes tells WPTV that around 12:30 a.m. Saturday, he was leaving Kanpai Restaurant when he heard gunshots and saw an injured person laying by his vehicle. Reyes said he was told by police that he couldn’t move his vehicle until investigators cleared the scene.

"I saw a guy right there in the middle of the parking lot over at Kanpai," said Reyes. "He was over there not moving. And then there was another guy outside my vehicle that was not moving."

Reyes' story is in line with another person, who doesn’t want to be identified, who provided WPTV with video from the scene. That witness said an altercation at the restaurant spilled outside and ended with the shooting.

"I love Boca Raton, but it’s definitely worrisome that it could happen at any point," Reyes said.
