60-year-old woman killed in Okeechobee County crash

One person died and two others are in critical condition following a two-vehicle crash in Okeechobee Tuesday morning on State Road 70 in Okeechobee.

The wreck happened at 6:20 a.m. on State Road 70, west of 112th Avenue.

Officials said the driver of a 2005 Ford sport-utility vehicle, 26-year-old Andres Torres of Hialeah, was transported to Lawnwood Regional Medical Center in critical condition. His passenger, 60-year-old Ileana Del Carmen Torres, also from Hialeah, died in the crash. 

Danny Walizer, 22, of Okeechobee, the driver of a 2008 Mazda sport-utility vehicle, was also transported to Lawnwood Regional Medical Center in critical condition. 

Both drivers and the passenger were wearing seat belts at the time of the accident. 

Alcohol did not play a role in the crash, according to a crash report. 

The crash remains under investigation.
