PALM BEACH COUNTY, Fla. — The Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office is investigating after a Loxahatchee mother said her son was the victim of a hit and run on his way to school.

Evelyn Metellus told WPTV an orange Hummer hit her 15-year-old son Thursday morning around 7:20 a.m. while he was riding his bike at Seminole Pratt Whitney Road and W. Sycamore Drive.

Metellus said the Hummer ran over her son, Ryan's bike, and stopped long enough for him to pull his bike from underneath the vehicle. But then, the Hummer took off.

"I started to break the best I can on a bike, and the bike just slid under his car," Ryan Merelus said. "I was just kind of like, wow."

The teen was taken to Palms West Hospital with knee pain, but is now fine.

"The doctor said he's going to be sore," said Evelyn Metellus. "Nothing is broken."

His mother filed a report with the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office, which is now looking for the driver. She also posted about the incident on Facebook, hoping everyone will be on the lookout for the person who hit her son.

"We’ve lived in Loxahatchee for 15 years," said Metellus. "It's the best place to raise your kids, the school system is great, everything is awesome for kids. However no one should be driving and hit a child and leave them on the side of the road."

Now she has a message for the driver.

"Please come forward," Metellus said. "We are not angry towards him or her. At least apologize to my son."

If you know who the driver is, call the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office.
