Christmas light display back up in PB Gardens

Posted

A Christmas display with more than 350,000 lights is back up in the Snug Harbor community in Palm Beach Gardens. John Staluppi  says he gave his neighbors a break last year after many complained of the traffic jam it causes every year.

The lights just turned on again and already drivers are lining the block hoping to catch a glimpse of the Christmas wonderland.

"It's a wow effect, it's beautiful," said Bob Kahl, who lives one block over.

Kahl admires the display too, but knows it comes with a price.

"Getting back home is never easy," added Kahl.

Traffic backs up on Prosperity Farms Road. Staluppi has hired Palm Beach County Sheriff's deputies to direct traffic on the weekends when everyone wants to catch a glimpse of the attraction.

"They feel like they are in Disney World when they finally come down here," said Staluppi. "We hope that people will just keep moving."

It will be a noticeable change for the next four weeks. After 7 years of doing this, Staluppi still gets overwhelmed by the Thank You notes he gets in his mailbox. He's hoping he can keep it going.

"One of these days I'm going to buy a snow machine, so when you come down here it's going to be snowing," he added.

Staluppi gets permission from all of his neighbors to set up lights in their yards. His crew is still tweaking some parts of the display this week. It will be up until December 28.
