Heavy rain floods parts of Jupiter

Posted

Strong storms battered the Jupiter and Tequesta area. There were no reports of major damage, but there were major delays for drivers trying to get through Jupiter.

"Trying to be safe. I don't want to get into a wreck if I don't need to," said Chelsea McCorvey.

McCorvey was driving up from the Keys with her dog Scooby when she had to pull off the road at Donald Ross Road and Military Trail.

"The roads were kind of covered in water," added McCorvey.

She waited out the storms with others at the same parking lot, which was completely underwater. The Marathon Gas station had to close down after losing power.

All Hooked Up Towing and Recovery said they had to rescue several drivers in the area.

Homeowners on Delaware Boulevard struggled to get into their driveways.

At some intersections like US 1 and Indiantown Road, you couldn't even see the sidewalks.

"I got a warning on my phone that said maybe the next 7 hours of flooding," added McCorvey.
