Martin County homeowners threatened by last weekend forest fire are feeling a sense of relief after the recent rainfall.
One to two inches of rain fell in the area Wednesday. Most of the water seeped into the ground.
One homeowner we talked to says he has been watering his lawn more frequently since the fires.
"We have a very big sense of relief with the rain that we've had here to help reduce the fire hazards here to make us feel safe again," says Martin County homeowner Scott Eves. "This was a very good start but I would feel better if we had a few more inches of rain."
A nearby creek-bed, that Eves says would typically have some sitting water in if after rainfall like this, is empty.
