The Martin County Sheriff's Office said a man on the run for five years from Pennsylvania was arrested with the help of U.S. Marshals.

Joshua Yuhas, 31, was pulled from a pond after he tried to hide from law enforcement earlier this week.

The sheriff's office said Yuhas was wanted in Kingston, Penn., since 2011 after he was arrested in the violent robbery of a convenience store clerk.

According to reports, in 2010 Yuhas and an accomplice tried to buy cigarettes at a gas station and became enraged at the clerk when the credit card they were using was declined.

Yuhas and other person are accused of jumping the counter, beating the clerk, stealing 26 cartons of cigarettes and caused $15,000 in damage to the store.

Detectives received a tip that Yuhas was living on Darling Street near Stuart.

As detectives waited for Yuhas, the sheriff's office said he attempted to run and hide by jumping in a pond.  He was later pulled from the waterway and taken into custody.
