A precautionary boil water notice remains in effect for all residents and businesses served by the Vero Beach water system even though a first round of tests did not show any bacteria contamination, according to the city.
The boil order is the result of a power failure Sunday night that caused water pressure to drop to 20 pounds per square inch in the system.
The boil water notice will remain in effect until a second round of tests indicates there is no contamination.
Results are expected sometime Wednesday afternoon.
Utility customers should use boiled or bottled water until the all clear is given.
A rolling boil of one minute is sufficient, according to the Water and Sewer Department.
