A Treasure Coast family is making a plea for information in connection with the death of their loved one in a hit and run crash.

A cross marks the spot where 55-year-old Daniel Letts of Vero Beach was struck as he walked along 20th Avenue Southwest around 9:30 p.m. on New Year’s Day.

Troopers say that vehicle kept going north without stopping.

A second motorist then struck Letts who was declared dead at the scene.

Letts was a longtime businessman in the area.

“People loved him.  It’s true, Michael Letts said.

“He was a really good guy.  Well liked.  He had been here forever,” David Letts said.

The family is awaiting autopsy results.

If you know anything about this case, you’re asked to call Treasure Coast Crime Stoppers a 1-800-273-TIPS.
