PALM BEACH COUNTY, Fla. — When the cold hits the Midwest some people decide to hit the road.
"The warm winters for Florida brought us down here," tourist Janisse Leho said Wednesday.
Now, Leho says her friends and family are following her lead after seeing her scenic, warm weather photos online.
"We have more coming next month than March we have more coming. We'll be busy but we enjoy it," she said.
To get more people visiting our county, tourism leaders want locals to get involved and become a brand ambassador for the county. All you have to do is take a scenic or cool photo and use hashtag #ThePalmBeaches before you post it online.
During the polar vortex, Discover the Palm Beaches is using its own social media accounts to showcase warmer weather here to entice more visitors.
Posting "If you need a break from the cold weather raise your hands!"
"We're just above 20 below," Vicki Krouse said.
She's 1,800 miles north of Florida in Ely, Minnesota, braving the cold temperatures. She says even though she has family here she'd rather stay home.
"You can always warm up, can't cool down if you're somewhere that gets in those super hot temps," she said.
