PALM BEACH COUNTY, Fla. — Palm Beach County Fire Rescue has named a new chief.
Starting April 1, Reginald Duren will take over the top position.
Duren is currently the fire chief in Riviera Beach.
He takes over for Chief Michael Mackey who is headed to Michigan.
Mackey took over the department in January 2018 after Chief Jeff Collins was fired over his handling of sexual harassment allegations.

From Chief Mackey To Our Entire Fire Rescue Family, I am so excited to make the following announcement. Palm Beach County Fire Rescue has a new Fire Chief – Chief Reginald Duren. I was so honored to be a part of this selection process and I am confident Chief Duren will be an outstanding leader for our great department, leading Palm Beach County Fire Rescue into the future. I will be working with your new Chief for a seamless transition Please see the following message from County Administrator Verdenia Baker: At the February 26 Workshop, I will request the Board ratify the appointment of a new Fire Rescue Administrator, Chief Reginald Duren. Mr. Duren was selected through a national search process. He is a Fire Rescue Executive with over 30 years of experience and holds a Master of Disaster Management Degree. He spent the majority of his professional career with the City of Miami and most recently as the Fire Administrator for the City of Riviera Beach for the last 5 years. Mr. Duren has the leadership, experience, and vision to continue moving our Fire Department forward. Chief Mackey starts as the Fire Chief for Lansing, Michigan on April 1. Congrats to all.
