WEST PALM BEACH, Fla— A fairly new placement agency, We Second Chance, is partnering with The Lord’s Place to help 100 homeless individuals find jobs in the next 100 days. It’s an initiative that’s hoping to permanently decrease homelessness throughout Palm Beach County.

“Just bring awareness to the fact that homelessness is a community problem, but also the community has answers. Everybody can get involved,” said We Second Chance co-founder Nyasha Chimbandi.

Chimbandi says they are hoping to help individuals find both temporary and long-term jobs at country clubs and grocery stores throughout the area.

“In this particular initiative we are looking to expand culinary opportunities working entry level positions,” said Jim Rhoads with The Lord's Place.

Rhoads says every year The Lord’s Placesees about 1,900 men and women walk through their doors with about 300 of those working to find employment. However, before they can apply for a job they must go through extensive training and work with the career resources center at the nonprofit to fine-tune their resume and prepare for interviews.

“This is what we need to do. The homeless are here and they are in our communities and we want to change the leadership role in changing their lives forever,” said Rhoads.
