PALM BEACH COUNTY, Fla. — Football fans are preparing for a game that was six years in the making. On Aug. 24 the University of Florida Gators play against the University of Miami Hurricanes in Orlando. And businesses in South Florida are cashing in.

The fandom is split in West Palm Beach, but the business influence is evident. At West Palm's Duffy’s Sports Grill fans will be surrounded by big screens and plenty of rivalry memorabilia. There’s also pitchers of beer and food specials. While other establishments like Roxy’s Pub are cashing in on specials and different places to watch the match-up.

“You don’t just have to watch indoors, you can watch outdoors or upstairs on the projection screen,” said Hunter Hendrix, Roxy’s Pub manager.

It’s accommodations football patrons like Brandon Franklin appreciates. But they also they value a good football rivalry.

“Anytime any Florida teams play it’s always big,” said Franklin. “But I think everybody is just excited for football to start. So that’s going to be the biggest thing.”

“I mean this is a rivalry that really should be in place,” said Patrick Cousins. “The University of Florida verses University of Miami – two great athletic programs. This should be a game every year.”
