WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. — A body was found in a canal Saturday afternoon in West Palm Beach.
West Palm Beach police are investigating the possible drowning behind 42nd Street.
The southbound lanes of Australian Avenue, just south of 42nd Street, were closed while dive crews recovered the body.
Andre Lawrence called police after discovering the body.
"When we were riding back is when I looked in there," he said. "Just how it was, I thought there was a mannequin or something in there. It really spooked me because I was not expecting to go to the park and see a dead body in the water."
