PALM BEACH COUNTY, Fla. — The commander at American Legion Post No. 164 in Boynton Beach says it’s a safe place for veterans to go who may be struggling with PTSD, especially during Fourth of July weekend. He says he wants all veterans to feel welcomed at this post.
“This is our freedom,” Commander Paul Reinsburrow said.
On this Fourth of July you’ll find plenty of food drinks and red, white and blue at his American Legion post. But Commander Reinsburrow says veterans of all ages can also find a safe place away from fireworks.
“There’s a lot of veterans out there when fireworks go off or a car backfires they are diving for cover,” he said.
He says at the American Legion there are trained officers who can help veterans struggling with PTSD find good resources to get help. Commander Reinsburrow says he’s hoping to start a dialogue with the younger generation.
“Don’t believe what you hear.. it’s a bunch of old people talking about the war. That’s not what it’s about even these young guys they don’t want to talk about what they did. Nobody wants to talk about what they had to do,” he said.
“And we are family, that’s what this is it’s a family. My son is Air Force my husband was army. This is family and I really wish we could get more people involved,” Sharon Pollack said.
