14-year-old boy arrested after armed carjacking in West Palm Beach

The West Palm Beach Police Department said a 14-year-old boy faces multiple charges in connection with an armed carjacking Wednesday night.

Officers said the incident occurred shortly after 9 p.m. in the 3000 block of South Dixie Hwy.

The victims told police when he got into his car and put his keys in the ignition, he was approached by multiple men. 

 

One of the men pointed a long gun at the victim's head and threatened to kill the victim as the other men removed items from the backseat of his car.

Police said the gunman ordered the victim out of his car. The victim complied and the armed man entered the victim's car and drove away.

An officer located the victim's carjacked car and pursued it to the 5700 block of Greenwood Ave.

The driver, identified as a 14-year-old, was arrested without incident and identified by the victim as the armed carjacker. The gun was recovered from the car.

 

The suspect was charged with carjacking, fleeing and eluding, resisting arrest, possession of firearm by a minor and five unrelated warrants.

 

The suspect was taken to the Juvenile Assessment Center.

Police did not say if any other suspects have been arrested in the case.
