WELLINGTON, Fla. — Police arrested a man Monday morning after they say he was peeping through the windows of a Wellington home.

Officials said a father reported seeing 48-year-old Geoffrey Cassidy in the bushes next to his daughter's bedroom window, making inappropriate sexual gestures.

"My reaction is, I don’t want him to get away," Tony Beckham told WPTV on Wednesday.

Beckham is a former NFL cornerback who played five seasons for the Tennessee Titans and Detroit Lions

"I thought he was a maintenance guy or something, trying to fix something," said Beckham. "But then he squatted down and I could see his hand gestures moving. And I go, what are you doing? I startled him and he tried to take off running."

Beckham said his fatherly and football instincts kicked in, and he tackled Cassidy and held him down until deputies arrived.

"Who else is going to take care of them? They’re my kids," said Beckham. "I grew up without a dad. To see a man out there belittling himself to get a fix off a kid? That’s morally wrong to me."

According to his arrest report, Cassidy told deputies he's a transient from Ohio. A background check shows previous arrests for burglary, theft, attempted receiving of stolen property, and criminal trespass.

"Maybe I stopped him from doing something more serious to another kid," said Beckham.

Cassidy is facing a charge of lewd and lascivious behavior.

Beckham said his family replaced the blinds in their home to black out the windows so they can feel safer.
