WEST PALM BEACH — A possible World Series matchup of the Houston Astros and the Washington Nationals could be a baseball first for two teams that train every spring at the Ballpark of the Palm Beaches.

“I did not envision that in the same year that we could see a potential world series that featured two palm beach county teams,” says George Linley of the Palm Beach County Sports Commission.

The Astros need to win one more game in their playoff series with to Yankees to earn a matchup with the Astros who already beat the Cardinals for the National League pennant.

On Friday night, the host New York Yankees defeated the Astros 4-1 to narrow the series to 3-2.

Officials think having two World Series teams in the same spring training park could boost tourism next spring by 20 percent.

“It’s got to be something about our facility I think palm beach county deserves a lot of credit for having these two teams in the world series – potentially in the world series,” Linley says.
