A pedestrian was struck and killed by sport-utility vehicle Thursday morning at the intersection of State Road 7 and Belvedere Road in Royal Palm Beach.

At 6:38 a.m., 2001 Chevy Tahoe was traveling southbound on State Road 7 in the inside lane.

The pedestrian, identified as Justyn Ciarrocchi, 28, of Royal Palm Beach, was walking eastbound across State Road 7 south of the intersection of Belevedere Road.

According to the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office, a 2001 Chevy Tahoe entered the intersection under a green light as Ciarrocchi was crossing.

The front of the Tahoe struck the left side of Ciarrocchi, knocking him down.  A second vehicle traveling behind the Tahoe also struck Ciarrocchi as he was lying in the road.

PSBO said Ciarrocchi was not utilizing the pedestrian signals or crosswalk.

When Palm Beach County Fire Rescue crews arrived, Ciarrocchi was lying in the road and pronounced dead at the scene.
